General
During the day, the night vision satellite image shows the visible satellite image, however, it also displays the twilight night vision information which is obtained from the IR channels. The colours are selected to ensure that the transition does not look too different. The resolution of the images is at approx. 1.5 km² for the information from the visible channel and approx. 4.5 km² (at 50°N) for the night vision information.
Yellowish = Low clouds (which generally do NOT appear in the pure IR image)
Whitish = High clouds (from pure cirrus to storm anvils).
The loop is extremely useful here for the direct and easy capture of cloud development and displacement, even, and especially, during the night.
