This policy applies to our websites topmeteo.eu and vfr.topmeteo.eu. The TopMetSat app has its own policy, available in the app.

2. Hosting and server logs
The websites are run by hosting and IT service providers in the EU. Each request logs the IP address, time, page requested and browser so that we can operate the sites securely (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The logs are deleted after 14 days.
3. Cookies and consent
Without your consent we only set cookies that are needed for login, shopping cart, form protection, language and for storing your choice (Section 25(2) TDDDG). Everything else (sections 4 to 6) is used only with your consent (Section 25(1) TDDDG, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). Your choice is kept for 12 months. You can change or withdraw it at any time via “Cookie settings” in the footer or in the menu, where you can also see the individual cookies.
4. Google Analytics
With your consent we use Google Analytics 4 on both sites, provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland, to see how our sites are used. Data may be transferred to Google LLC in the USA. Google is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (Art. 45 GDPR). The data is deleted after 14 months. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, Section 25(1) TDDDG).
5. Campaign attribution
If you reach us through an advertisement or a tagged link, we remember the campaign for 90 days with your consent. If you create an account or buy a subscription during that time, we store the campaign with that transaction. This shows us which advertising brings new customers. We do not pass this information on. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, Section 25(1) TDDDG).
6. YouTube videos
Videos on topmeteo.eu are provided by YouTube (Google Ireland Limited). They are only loaded once you agree. YouTube then receives your IP address and may set cookies, including a transfer to the USA (Data Privacy Framework). The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).
7. Visitor statistics without cookies
On topmeteo.eu we also count page views without cookies on our own server, storing IP addresses only in shortened form. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in measuring reach (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
8. Account
For an account on vfr.topmeteo.eu we need a username and an email address. We store anything else (billing address, settings, flight plans) when you enter or use it (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). A subscription is for one person. To detect shared login details, we store the IP address and browser identifier of each login for 28 days. If this indicates sharing, the system automatically sends a warning and, if it happens again, blocks the account temporarily or permanently (Art. 22(2)(a) GDPR). You can ask for a member of staff to review the case and you can contest the decision. We delete your account on request by email to info@topmeteo.eu. We keep invoices for as long as the law requires.
9. Trial access and payment
For trial access you confirm your mobile number with a code sent by SMS. Sending the code and checking the number are handled by service providers, which may involve a transfer to the USA (EU-US Data Privacy Framework). We store the number so that each number can only be used once for a trial (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR).
For payment we pass the necessary details to the payment provider you choose, which processes them under its own responsibility. We keep invoices and payment records for 10 years (Art. 6(1)(b) and (c) GDPR, Section 147 AO, Section 257 HGB). We verify an AOPA membership number with IAOPA Europe.
10. Emails and newsletter
We send system emails and the Thermikinfo through email service providers, which may involve a transfer to the USA (Data Privacy Framework) (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). With your consent we send the newsletter through a newsletter service in Germany, which records whether it was opened and which links were clicked (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). We occasionally send customers offers for similar products of our own (Section 7(3) UWG). You can object to both at any time via the link in every email or by email.
11. Map, error reports, linked apps
The flight planning map is loaded by your browser from a map service in Germany, which receives your IP address. Technical errors on vfr.topmeteo.eu are reported, with the IP address and, where applicable, the customer number, to an error log run by our IT service provider and deleted after 90 days (both Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). If you connect your account to a flight app such as TopMetSat, Naviter, LXNav, the Online Contest or WeGlide, that app receives the details needed for the connection (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
12. Your rights
You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction and data portability (Art. 15–18, 20 GDPR). You can withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future. You can object to processing based on our legitimate interest on grounds relating to your particular situation, and to advertising at any time without giving reasons (Art. 21 GDPR). You can lodge a complaint with the data protection authority of Brandenburg (Landesbeauftragte für den Datenschutz), Stahnsdorfer Damm 77, 14532 Kleinmachnow, Germany.
A username and email address (account), the mobile number (trial access) and the address (invoice) are required; without them we cannot provide the service. Everything else is voluntary.
